Perform a proper plank!

Watch this short video on how to do a proper 3-way plank:

Building a strong "core" has gained much attention in the past decade. Why might you want to do this?

  • If you are an athlete, activating your core muscles will make your body stronger with better endurance and resilience.
  • If you do not see yourself as an athlete, activating your core muscles will make your body stronger with better endurance and resilience. (Yes, everyone)

In our physical therapy clinic we help all of our patients gain mobility and get out of pain. If we don't train for strength, especially with the core trunk stabilizers, pain will return. The stabilizing core stiffens and controls the trunk and hips so that powerful extremity muscles can have a good foundation for pulling, and moving the body. The core muscles even have to work while you are sitting (with your feet firmly on the floor). Plank exercises (and others) are best for training trunk muscles for endurance and holding you stable with prolonged holds.

If doing this type of plank is painful, or if being able to do them seems improbable, let us help you. Follow this link and talk to us for free to see how we can help you:
